Recovery OS Guide

LTL Reweigh & Reclassification Audit

An evidence-first review workflow for billed weight, density and freight-class changes under the modernized NMFC environment.

Current classification context: NMFTA says major NMFC changes took effect July 19, 2025, including broader use of a standardized 13-sub density scale for applicable freight.

Why the review changed

Weight and dimensions now matter even more for many LTL classification workflows. NMFTA explains that density is a primary factor for many items while handling, stowability and liability can still affect classification. That makes the original tendered measurements, billed measurements and governing classification evidence important review inputs.

What Recovery OS can screen

The current lab can flag a billed weight that is more than 10% above a supplied original/tendered weight. That is only a review trigger. A production review should preserve the carrier’s reweigh/reclassification evidence and the applicable NMFC or tariff context before reaching a conclusion.
